It\u2019s a valley glacier which front side is covered by fallen rocks, most of them from its side moraines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It stands out because of its name, which refers to the last name of one of the first settlers of the place: Mrs. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ana Calluqueo<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. It has a front lagoon of 3.5 km long and steep side moraines from which rock fragments constantly fall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In 1943, it was visited and photographed by the Italian priest <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alberto de Agostini<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Today, those photographs gain a priceless importance when compared to the current scenario, which helps to gauge the effects of the climate change on the glaciers.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1185\" style=\"width: 607px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1185\" class=\"wp-image-1185 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/glaciareschilenoss3.s3.us-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/19033708\/Glaciar-Calluqueo-Agostini.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"597\" height=\"362\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1185\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Photography taken by <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alberto de Agostini<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in 1943.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In a study published in 2013, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Falaschi<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> et al. discovered on the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Calluqueo<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Glacier surface a dramatic receding occurred between 1985 and 2008.
